Mixed-use Environment with a Unique Topography
Located close to the Al Mouhallab shopping mall in Kuwait, a 10,356 square meter plot is to be developed into a mixed-use environment consisting of a shopping mall, cinema, offices, hotel apartments, dining and entertainment along with parking spaces. The development consists of an artificially constructed topography, which it boasts of as its most unique feature, allowing the creation of landscaped areas such as gardens, cascades, interesting promenades, etc. LIMAH developed a wayfinding strategy to match its unique construction, including signage that integrates with the special topography.
In collaboration with SSH, LIMAH developed the complete wayfinding strategy for the sites interiors, exteriors, car parks and Back of House. The design guidelines and standards were based on local & international standards, in accordance with the location, architecture, site conditions and functions, project guidelines, client vision and the local culture. Further, an emphasis will be placed on local materials and sustainable design in all products developed. Our work shall aid in the creation of an efficient, welcoming and dynamic retail and commercial environment.
Their specific goal was to improve the staff and visitors’ experience and efficiency of the site through effective wayfinding and signage, distinctive signage and code compliant features that are integrated into the environment, design products that are sustainable while designing to the highest of international standards. All products designed must be suitable for the retail and commercial sector in which they will exist. All users were accommodated through the English and Arabic languages as well as international pictograms.
