Celebrating UAE’s 41st National day
In celebration of the U.A.E’s 41st National Day, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) created a 123 metre-high flagpole on The Flag Island. This exceptional monument, which stands for Sharjah’s outstanding progress, was inaugurated by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah in a festive atmosphere and luxurious ambience celebrating the birth of the Emirati nation. The Flag Island is designed to be a new attraction, turning the island into a new touristic destination featuring varied recreational facilities including an open 200 seat amphitheatre, art gallery, shops, restaurants and cafes. The flagpole is surrounded by landscape spread over 65 diameter circle embellished with red, purple and white petunia flowers, lavish areas of greenery as well as stylish interlocking of various colours and shapes.
In anticipation of UAE’s National Day on December 2nd, 2013, Shurooq launched new venues, galleries and signage. LIMAH consulted on the wayfinding and signage design for the complete site. The design guidelines and standards were based on Local & International Standards in accordance with the site design, site conditions & functions, project branding & guidelines, client vision and the local culture. Our work created an efficient, welcoming destination representative of Sharjah's cultural history.
