Expansion to the Growing City of Abu Dhabi
The Zayed City covers a total area of 1,480 ha and is the administrative centre of the largest region in Abu Dhabi. With plans for additional housing units and higher institutes, the city aims to house a solar plant that could position Abu Dhabi as the leader in renewable energy and sustainable technology. With the demands of the growing city, LIMAH set out to develop a wayfinding master plan, from concept through tender phases. This wayfinding system aims to guide users from the vehicular edges of the region, continue into downtown passing by the city and to finally reach the pedestrian main street. LIMAH was focused on the creation of a master plan including vehicular, pedestrian, public art, address systems, environmental graphics, web and mobile applications. The result was a complete Urban Wayfinding strategy, the first of its kind in the region.
