Al Qana
Abu Dhabi’s Latest Waterfront Development
Al Qana is a new waterfront destination in Abu Dhabi, UAE, set to open at the end of 2020. A sprawling entertainment, dining and leisure destination located on the Khor al Madta waterway. Created by Barkah International Investment and Abu Dhabi Municipality it is spread over 2.4 kilometres and seven districts.
The districts will feature scenic walkways, entertainment options such as cinemas, a kids’ zone, outdoor skate park, and landscaped community spaces.
It will also be home to the Middle East’s largest aquarium, a yacht marina, a wellness hub, and VR park.

Design Approach
One of the factors that helped contribute towards LIMAH’s goal of creating an exciting destination was integrating art into the master plan. LIMAH’s goal was to create a unique and positive experience, one that allows people to share their experiences on social media, as well as reinforce their connection with the space. This also helps the develpors build aniticpation and excitement, which in turn is responded to, with unique pieces of public art in unexpected situations.
