Developed in collaboration with Majid Al Futtaim, Tilal Al Ghaf is a large-scale residential community designed around landscape, lifestyle, and contemporary living. Our appointment focused on shaping the arrival experience, sales centre environment, and associated public art interventions to create a more engaging and memorable journey for prospective residents from first approach through to destination.

The project explored how transitional spaces can become meaningful experiential moments rather than purely functional routes. Working across arrival zones, entry roads, hoardings, public interfaces, and waterfront environments, the strategy sought to strengthen orientation, visibility, and emotional connection throughout the visitor journey.

Our approach combined wayfinding, environmental graphics, public art, and activation strategies to establish a layered arrival experience that reflects the ambition, identity, and lifestyle aspirations of the wider development.

‍

STRATEGIC DRIVERS

  • Strengthening first impressions across key arrival and sales centre environments
  • Enhancing visibility and orientation for first-time visitors and potential residents
  • Activating transitional spaces through public art, graphics, and experiential interventions
  • Integrating signage and activation elements within the landscape and architectural setting
  • Creating a scalable framework capable of supporting future phases of development

EXPERIENCE STRATEGY AND DESIGN

THE ARRIVAL JOURNEY

Tilal Al Ghaf is a destination where the arrival sequence plays an important role in shaping perception and engagement. Our strategy focused on understanding how visitors move through the development, identifying opportunities to transform moments of transition into experiences that feel welcoming, memorable, and emotionally engaging.

We began by mapping existing and proposed circulation paths to understand movement flows, decision points, and visual relationships throughout the site. This process helped define areas where orientation could be strengthened and where moments of activation could reinforce the identity of the development more effectively.

Rather than treating navigation as isolated signage interventions, the experience was approached as a continuous journey from city arrival through to the sales centre and surrounding public spaces.

‍

ACTIVATING TRANSITIONAL SPACES

A detailed site analysis revealed several areas with opportunities for enhancement across arrival zones, entry roads, hoardings, and waterfront environments. Existing conditions often lacked visual anchors, landscape integration, or moments of engagement capable of supporting the premium identity of the development.

The strategy introduced a family of interventions designed to elevate these environments through scale, visibility, and experiential quality. Large-format graphics, gateway elements, digital screens, sculptural installations, and enhanced landscape framing were explored as tools to create stronger arrival moments and reinforce orientation throughout the journey.

Particular attention was given to the long approach road leading toward the sales centre, where activation elements were positioned to introduce rhythm, interaction, and anticipation along the visitor experience.

FEATURE MOMENT

The Tilal Al Ghaf arrival experience is shaped through a series of layered interventions that strengthen identity, orientation, and emotional engagement across the development.

‍

ARRIVAL GATEWAYS

Arrival zones were reimagined through large-scale welcome statements, sculptural elements, and enhanced landscape framing that establish a stronger sense of presence and visibility from the first point of approach.

‍

ACTIVATED ENTRY ROAD

The journey toward the sales centre was transformed through a sequence of roadside activations, digital interventions, and environmental graphics designed to introduce rhythm, anticipation, and visual engagement along the route.

‍

PUBLIC ART INTEGRATION

Public art interventions were positioned throughout key movement zones and gathering areas to create moments of interaction, pause, and recognition that reinforce the identity of the development.

‍

LAGOON EXPERIENCE

The lagoon edge and surrounding public spaces were activated through seating areas, pedestrian graphics, and experiential installations that encourage exploration and strengthen the relationship between visitors and the landscape environment.
